Seakeeping

SeaKeeping forms an important component of optimizing the Ship Hull form and in determining the behavior of the ship underway and in high sea states which has significant repercussions on the cost. It also determines the ability of the ship to perform efficiently under adverse environmental conditions. Simply stated, Sea Keeping is all about Performance and Sea Worthiness.

GreenSHIP’s software tool helps analyze the dynamic behavior of the floating structure in different wave excitations ranging from normal to irregular and under conditions of light to fully loaded ships. The tool helps calculate the performance of the ship in terms of heave, pitch and roll motion. It also helps in making near accurate predictions about Sea Keeping characteristics in conjunction with the inherent database about past model tests conducted.

Generally, Sea Keeping analysis is based on any one of these, namely, Strip theory which is two dimensional, reliable and most preferred till date or Green Function method for 3-D analysis and finally the Rankine Panel method. GreenSHIP scores over most of the softwares available by providing a choice of all the three methods for analysis.
