The marine industry is fraught with many challenges. Shipping safety, greenhouse gases, fuel conservation, energy efficiency and the list goes on. There is also a perceived need for improvements in ship designs that rise over and above the textbook prescriptions and are high on operational efficiency.
Improve Fishing Vessel Performance
Fishermen in India have always followed traditional age old methods of designing and building ships. While the efficiency of these ships with respect to performance and fuel usage is debatable, the dependency on these indigenous shipping vessels has only grown stronger owing to the lack of better alternatives.
Improve Indian coastal area
The fragile and vulnerable Indian coastal area is subject to numerous onslaughts like oil spillage, organic and chemical pollutions, etc which is most often irreversible and detrimental to the coastal ecosystem. To further compound the problem there is no well regularized system in place to check these occurrences.
